We raise funds to support Hull Hospitals to enhance and enrich patient experiences

Story

Team Space2BHeard CIC are raising funds for the TYA - a unit for teenagers and young adults from the region, suffering from the effects of cancer. The unit is based at Castle Hill Hospital in East Yorkshire, and the dedicated staff care for these young people in the best way possible. The staff from Space2BHeard CIC will be raising funds by taking part in the Yorkshire 3 Peaks!

We are supporting our colleague to raise funds in memory of his beautiful niece Abbie who gained her wings back in June 2022, after an 18 month long battle with breast cancer. The care she received at the Teenage and Young Adult Unit (TYA) at Castle Hill Hospital was second to none and they dedicated their time and love to her, so we are raising funds for the TYA who are supported by the WISHH foundation, a charity that supports patients, friends and family that are battling this terrible disease.

It was also a dream of Abbie's to walk the Yorkshire 3 Peaks so this challenge will also be in memory of her.

The Yorkshire 3 Peaks of Pen-y-ghent, Ingleborough and Whernside are among the best known hills in the Yorkshire Dales National park. The peaks which form a part of the Pennine range encircle the heads of the valleys of the River Ribble and of Chapel-le-Dale.

All funds raised will help us enhance our hospitals for the benefit of patients, their loved ones, visitors and staff. The funds raised will go directly to the TYA unit, to enable them to continue their astonishing care of the young people of our area, to brighten our days when it is needed most. The funds raised will help provide equipment, vouchers, days out and precious memories for those young people and their families when it is needed most.

The walk will take place on Saturday 9th September, beginning in the picturesque Horton in Ribblesdale.

Please support us and the hospitals as we take on this challenge!

About the charity

WISHH stands for Working Independently to Support Hull Hospitals. We fundraise to complement and enrich the services and facilities at Hull Royal Infirmary and Castle Hill Hospitals, over and above what can be achieved by the NHS alone, for the benefit and comfort of patients and their loved ones.
