Story
Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
In March 2026, Clarkson Wright & Jakes named QVH Charity as its Charity of the Year.
QVH has an important place in my family as my granddad was transferred to this hospital in November 1942 during the war for treatment following a Lysander crash which resulted in the partial amputation of his right hand. He was treated under Archibald McIndoe and became a member of the Guinea Pig Club which was formed in 1941 to make life in hospital easier for its patients. The name “Guinea Pig" was chosen to reflect the experimental nature of the techniques and equipment used for reconstructive work at East Grinstead. My granddad always looked back at his time at QVH fondly and made amazing lifelong friendships with the other injured airmen. When it was announced that we would be taking part in a fundraiser I knew I had to step up to the challenge and hopefully raise some money for this great institution.
MILES FOR MAY FUNDRAISER
Throughout May, the CWJ team will be taking part individually or in teams to complete the miles that real patients travel to receive treatment at Queen Victoria Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.
Participants will cover these miles by walking, running, cycling or rowing, helping to highlight the journeys patients face while raising vital funds for QVH Charity.
Support from the charity plays an important role in improving patient experience, from funding rehabilitation and wellbeing services to creating more comfortable environments for patients and their families during treatment and recovery.
