I'm taking on the 2027 TCS London Marathon for Ocular Melanoma UK (OMUK).

I’ll be taking on 26.2 miles to raise vital funds and awareness for people affected by ocular melanoma, a rare cancer diagnosed in around 750 people in the UK each year.

Why I’m running...

Ocular melanoma became part of our family’s life when my wife was diagnosed three years ago. Until then, like most people, we knew very little about this rare form of cancer. Suddenly, we found ourselves navigating appointments, treatment, scans and the uncertainty that comes with waiting for results.

Watching someone you love go through cancer is incredibly difficult. I have also seen the strength, courage and resilience my wife has shown throughout it all. I’m running this marathon for her, for our family and for every person who has received an ocular melanoma diagnosis and felt frightened, overwhelmed or alone.

Because ocular melanoma is so rare, it can sometimes feel as though very few people truly understand what patients and their families are going through. That is why the work of Ocular Melanoma UK is so important.

OMUK provides specialist information and support to people affected by ocular melanoma and their loved ones, including a helpline, psychological support, trusted information, online communities and opportunities to connect with others who understand.

Completing the London Marathon will be one of the biggest physical challenges I have ever taken on, but it is nothing compared with the challenge faced by people living with cancer. For me, crossing that finish line will be a way of celebrating my wife’s strength, turning a difficult chapter in our lives into something positive and helping make sure other families receive the support they need.
