Story
OSCAR's Paediatric Brain Tumour Charity are taking on the Yorkshire Marathon/Yorkshire 10-Mile course to raise money to support children with brain tumours and their families, raise awareness of signs and symptoms of this terrible disease, and fund research into better and kinder treatments.
Millie’s Story💜
On June 5th, 2025, our world was shattered when our beautiful daughter, Millie, was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumour. The news was earth-shattering, and as a family, we felt helpless. We knew we wanted to channel our energy into something positive, and that’s why we decided to take part in this marathon relay, fundraising for Oscar’s Paediatric Brain Tumour Charity.
Oscar’s has been a lifeline for us. They support children like Millie and families like ours, offering vital emotional and physical support. From the beginning, they have been amazing, providing booster boxes filled with things to uplift Millie during such a difficult time. They even remembered her siblings, understanding how tough it can be on them too.
Millie is the most beautiful, amazing, bubbly, funny, and confident girl. Her tumour affects her balance and coordination, impacting her gross motor and fine manipulative skills, but she never lets it stop her. She is truly inspirational. She has already taken part in Catch a Ball for Oscar’s to help raise awareness for other children like her. On the day of the marathon, Millie will be there, cheering her family on, wearing her Oscar’s t-shirt, and waiting to see her mum cross the finish line. She’s been asking to train with me, and she’s so excited and enthusiastic to help others.
Please donate, no matter how big or small. It would mean the world to us as a family, knowing we are helping Oscar’s continue their incredible work supporting children like Millie.
They have run every year since Oscar Hughes died of a brain tumour aged just 9. The charity that bears his name has helped so many other children in the same situation and the team taking on the run are doing so to help even more.
