Fathoms Free is a community of volunteer conservationists dedicated to protecting the marine environment from Ghost Fishing Gear and Marine Debris. We respond to reports of ghost gear to remove the threat of entanglement and stop more wildlife being entrapped and killed.

Story

I am cycling Lands End to John O'Groats in 7 days, covering over 1000 miles from the bottom of Cornwall to the tip of Scotland- to raise funds for Fathoms Free.

Fathoms Free is a volunteer-led charity based in Cornwall dedicated to protecting marine wildlife. They remove abandoned, lost, or discarded fishing gear (ghost gear) and other marine debris from coastal waters. Ghost gear continues to trap and kill wildlife long after being lost, causing significant harm to marine ecosystems.

Since starting in 2014, Fathoms Free has grown into a well-organised charity tackling one of the biggest threats to our oceans. They also support other conservation efforts, working with partners like the Cornwall Wildlife Trust to survey and clean previously neglected sites.

Your support will help Fathoms Free continue their vital work. Any donation, no matter how small, will make a difference. Thank you for helping protect our oceans.
