Story
On October 21st, I'm taking on a significant challenge: a solo trek of the first leg of the Coast-to-Coast route. That means 85 miles and an ascent of 14,000 feet—from the coast at St Bees to the heart of the Cumbrian countryside at Kirkby Stephen - I aim to complete this demanding route in just 5 days.
I’m dedicating every difficult mile of this journey to my good friend and Brother-in-Law, Tom, who we tragically lost too soon to mental health struggles.
Losing Tom has left an immense, painful void in our family. His passing was a shocking and devastating event, the kind that throws a family into unimaginable grief. This walk is my way of honouring his memory and transforming grief into action.
Why I'm Walking for CHUMS
I'm fundraising for CHUMS – The Bedfordshire Suicide Bereavement Service Campaign.
When a person is lost to suicide, the grief of their loved ones is unique—it’s complicated, overwhelming, and often isolating. CHUMS is a lifeline. They provide crucial, specialist support and ensure that help is immediately available to families and friends as they try to cope with the complex, shocking trauma of their loss.
Your donation won't just support a charity; it will directly fund the vital help that a family needs in the darkest moment of their lives. It will help ensure that no one has to navigate the devastating aftermath of a suicide alone.
Every step I take, every painful climb, will be for Tom and for the families CHUMS supports.
Please help me turn this 85-mile challenge into support for those who need it most.
