Story
So- as some of you may already know, I have signed myself up to do Manchester marathon on 27th April. I will be doing this for Alive Activities
My father has had Alzheimer’s for several years now and my mother is his carer.
As there are unfortunately so many activities that my father can no longer do, this can be both very frustrating and upsetting for him and very demanding for my mother. It’s a real struggle to find accessible activities for him that can give my mum a rest and that he enjoys.
But after my mum came across this amazing small charity Alive- it meant some respite for her and activities to keep my father entertained. The work this charity does is so important- giving those with dementia and their carers a better quality of life! A really big life line for them.
Being a small charity though, they are always in need of funds so I would love nothing more than to raise some money for them to keep the amazing work that they are doing going.
If you have a few coins to spare between now and April 27th to help me get through the 26.2 miles then I would be hugely grateful.
Alive is dedicated to improving the health, wellbeing and quality of life of older people and their carers. Our vision is a world where older people live lives full of value, meaning and connection. Whether it's through the use of iPads, music, dance, intergenerational or gardening work, we engage older people creatively, reduce social isolation and connect them to their local communities.
With your help, we can bring laughter and joy to even more older people.
