Story
I still remember the moment I accepted my role at Wythenshawe Community Housing Group (WCHG). A friend turned to me and said, “Are you sure you want to work in Wythenshawe? I’ve heard it’s really dangerous.”
Four years later, I can say without hesitation....they were completely wrong!
Wythenshawe has been one of the most inspiring places I’ve ever worked. It’s the people, the pride, the powerful Garden City ethos, and the shared determination to do better and be better for the community. It’s a place full of heart, resilience, and ambition.
Now, as I prepare to say goodbye in my final month at WCHG, I want to give something back to the community that has given me so much.
That’s why I’m raising money for BW3 (Business Working With Wythenshawe), a brilliant local charity that has supported young people here for over 24 years. They work with schools and businesses to raise aspirations, build confidence, and create real pathways into employment, opening doors that might otherwise stay closed.
To help support their work, I’ll be joining an all-star WCHG team to take on the challenge of pulling an 18-tonne fire engine 20 metres as fast as possible. After a few days of lifting boxes while moving house, I’m feeling stronger than ever, so why not put that strength to good use!
If Wythenshawe has taught me anything, it’s that potential is everywhere, it just needs the right support to thrive.
So please, if you can, donate. Every pound will help BW3 continue to inspire young people and give them the opportunities they deserve, and help make Wythenshawe the best it can be.
