The Challenge: Bridging the 60-Year Gap
Currently, our facilities struggle with extreme thermal inefficiency. Despite running the heating at full capacity for hours, winter temperatures rarely exceed 17°C.
• Thermal Loss: The single-skin brickwork and uninsulated loft space offer almost zero thermal resistance, leading to massive heat leakage.
• Outdated Infrastructure: Peeling oil-based paint and tiny, single-glazed roof lights create a dim, damp, and uninspiring atmosphere for learning.
• Operational Impact: These conditions directly affect our ability to retain young cadets and adult volunteers, who deserve a professional and comfortable environment.
The Solution: A Strategic Two-Phase Modernization
We have already successfully piloted a renovation in our Wardroom using Kingspan insulated plasterboard and directional lighting. The results were immediate: higher temperatures, reduced eye strain, and a significant boost in morale. We now aim to roll this standard out across the
