I have been closely involved with UnityMK (previously the Winter Night Shelter MK) for several years and feel passionately that everyone needs the security of their home which is harder and harder for many these days, a situation sadly that only seems to be worsening.

UnityMK is a key Milton Keynes charity who support members of our community who are in crisis or experiencing homelessness.

Unfortunately, with the numbers of people experiencing homelessness growing in recent years UnityMK's services are being stretched more than ever.

I have decided to join the fight against homelessness in our city and on June 6th I am stepping out of my comfort zone to raise vital funds for this lifesaving charity by taking part in in their Big Sleepout and Glasswalk challenge.

Glasswalk: I will be walking across hundreds of broken glass bottles. This will be both a mental and symbolic challenge.

Sleepout: I will then be spending the night sleeping rough in a car park, with just a few layers and a sleeping bag to experience a brief but thought-provoking insight into the challenges people face when forced to sleep rough.
