On Saturday 20 September 2025, Hilton and Jo will be taking part in The Swim Serpentine event, swimming 2 miles to raise money for MS-UK!
At the start of the year, a random chat between running club buddies Hilton and Jo (a non-swimmer and a casual swimmer!) somehow resulted in an agreement to complete the 2 mile Swim Serpentine event this year!
Beginner lessons, technique lessons and regular sessions at a local gym's outdoor (heated!) pool started in earnest, but it took a heatwave in August for Jo to finally drag Hilton into a local lake for his first ever open water swim!
A handful of lake swims later (with a lot of tow float hugging!!), here we are about to embark on this big challenge!
Hilton's wife Jyotika (who loved open water swimming when able to) has lived with multiple sclerosis for 21 years and battles fatigue, muscle spasms and stiffness on a daily basis.
Despite these challenges, Jyotika remains upbeat and inspirational to many with her positivity.
MS-UK is a national charity dedicated to empowering people affected by multiple sclerosis to live happier and healthier lives. They work to improve the understanding of MS and provide support where it is needed most.
Their services include a helpline, providing information and emotional support, online activities, information booklets and a bi-monthly magazine New Pathways.
Every donation makes a huge difference thank you so much for your support!
