Story

In June 2025, just two months after the birth of our youngest daughter, my wife Lindsey was diagnosed with metastatic triple negative breast cancer. She was 41 years old.

For the next 14 months, Lindsey fought for more time with everything she had. She pursued every treatment and every possibility available to her. She understood the difficult statistics that came with metastatic TNBC, but she refused to allow those numbers to define the way she lived.

More than anything, Lindsey wanted time with her family.

She loved being my wife and being a mom to our daughters, Evelyn and Abigail, who were the center of her world. Even while living with cancer, Lindsey kept making memories with them. She took the girls to the zoo, planned fun outings, went to fall festivals, and found ways for us to enjoy life together as a family. In November 2025, we took the girls on a Disney Cruise, a trip that became one of our most treasured family memories.

Lindsey died on August 9, 2026, at the age of 42.

Lindsey was a nurse who worked in Infection Prevention at Allegheny Health Network. She cared deeply about helping others, and during her illness she spoke openly about metastatic triple negative breast cancer and the urgent need for greater awareness, more research, and better treatment options.

We want to carry that part of Lindsey's legacy forward.

In her memory, our family is participating in the Triple Negative Breast Cancer Foundation's Research Legacy Challenge. Our goal is to raise $25,000 for triple negative breast cancer research by October 31, 2026.

If we reach that goal, the TNBC Foundation will match the $25,000 dollar for dollar, creating a $50,000 dedicated TNBC research grant administered through the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR). Through the Research Legacy Challenge, qualifying fundraisers also have the opportunity to name a research grant in honor of someone they love.

Our hope is to reach that goal and have a research grant carry Lindsey Hrica's name.

Lindsey wanted more time. More birthdays. More trips to the zoo. More fall festivals. More family vacations. More ordinary days watching Evelyn and Abigail grow up.

We cannot give Lindsey that time. But in her memory, we can help fund the research that may give more time to someone else.

Every contribution, no matter the amount, brings us closer to the $25,000 goal and to a $50,000 research grant in Lindsey's honor.

Thank you for loving Lindsey, for standing beside our family, and for helping us carry her memory forward.

For Lindsey, and for every family hoping for more time.

With love,

Jon, Evelyn & Abigail
