Story
As my husband and I are away on holiday during this year’s Alzheimer’s Walk, we didn’t want to miss the chance to still do something meaningful for a cause so close to our hearts. So, together, we decided to take on our own challenge: walking from Lichfield to Walsall, visiting four local TP branches along the way. It will take us around 7 hours, covering roughly 19 miles.
This charity is deeply personal to both of us.
My aunt has been living with Alzheimer’s for around 9 years. Once an active, working woman, she is now in a care home in her late 60s, unable to walk, talk, or recognise those who love her most. Watching her fade from the person she once was has been truly heartbreaking.
For Dave, this cause is just as personal. He spent time visiting his aunt in a care home until she passed away, and he also watched his nan deteriorate daily as she bravely battled this cruel disease.
Anyone who has seen a loved one slowly slip away because of Alzheimer’s will know how devastating it is. Dementia doesn’t just steal the individual—it deeply affects families too, leaving behind a heartbreaking absence where a mum, dad, sister, brother, aunt, uncle, friend, or grandparent once was.
We want to do our part to help bring hope. Every step we walk is for a future where no family has to go through this pain.
If you’re able, we would be so grateful for your support. Every donation, no matter the size, will make a difference in helping to find a cure and give families hope for brighter days ahead.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. 💜
