My wife and I are participating in a walk to support all those affected by dementia, especially our own family members whom we have watched suffer from this devastating disease.

For my part, I visited my aunt in a care home until she passed away and witnessed my nan's daily deterioration as she battled this illness. Similarly, Lisa is walking for her aunt, who is currently in a care home and can no longer walk, talk, or recognize anyone.

Dementia not only takes away the individual but also profoundly impacts their families, who lose a cherished mum, dad, sister, brother, aunt, uncle, friend, or grandparent. It is truly heartbreaking.
