Natasha Hartley is raising money for University of Sheffield

The Big Walk 2026 · 3 July 2026 · Start fundraising for this event

The Big Walk is back for 2026! On Friday 3 July, walkers will be fundraising to save young lungs.

Story

On Thursday 18 June, the Finance Department will be holding a 'Little Walk', as part of the fundraising for Finance Staff taking part in the University of Sheffield's Big Walk (on Friday 3 July).

This year, the Big Walk is in support of lung disease research at the University of Sheffield. This is to help move safe lung scanning technology from the lab into the hands of doctors who are caring for children with lung conditions.

For a baby born before 32 weeks, breathing is a battle. A third of these infants are at risk of developing lung disease. Standard scans use radiation that is too dangerous for these babies, so doctors are forced to treat them without seeing the full picture. Your support will remove the need for guesswork and provide parents with the reassurance they need.

For a child suffering with cystic fibrosis or asthma, you are providing the technology that will shape a healthier future.

Thank you so much for helping the University reach its fundraising goal.
