Story

So it's fair to say the last couple of years have been a pretty crap: in 2022 dear Daddy passed away, in 2023 my dear Aunty Di passed away and in Oct 2024 I, and my family, were blindsided by the news that, at 45, having never smoked, I somehow had lung cancer. I am pleased to say I have a fantastic consultant, am on a good treatment plan and living life to the full - my 'to do list' is long. Macmillan have been beside me for every one of these devastating times, giving advice, giving hugs, giving support and giving grace and I cannot thank them enough for being 'there' when it truly matters.

I am hoping to do various activities in the coming years, to fundraise for Macmillan and try and give back some of the support they have given to me and my family. My first is soon approaching - on May 11th 2025 ' Team Austin' are assembling and have challenged ourselves to take on the Norfolk Coast Mighty Hike.

I hate asking people to part with their hard earned cash so please don't feel obliged, but if you fancied sticking in a £5/10, I'd be so grateful. I've pledged £250 and our team pledge is £1250. £250 can pay for a Macmillan Nurse for one day and every single one I've met have been incredible - I think it takes a certain type of person and someone quite special to be a Macmillan nurse.

There are currently 3 million people (+ 1 now) living with cancer in the UK today. It's Macmillan's goal to be there for everyone from the moment of diagnosis, but they can't do this without donations from people like you.

Thank you and thank you Macmillan.
