Story
Hi, I was diagnosed with kidney failure in 2003 and following 4 years on kidney dialysis, I underwent surgery, receiving a donated kidney in 2007.
During this period and after that, I received much support from the National Kidney Federation who have helped me through my renal journey. As such, I am keen to raise funds for the charity (despite my dislike of walking), however, when I saw the 'Best Foot Forward Challenge', it was the ideal opportunity for me to become involved, to challenge myself, be more active and achieve the number of steps, and more, of 72,208 steps within the month of April. (The number mentioned indicates how many people are on dialysis or living with kidney transplant in the UK).
I would be very grateful for your support to help me raise funds for this truly deserving charity and thank you for your generosity in advance.
The National Kidney Federation is run by kidney patients to support kidney patients and their families. It runs a free UK Helpline dedicated to kidney patients with two fully trained, experienced advisers providing a 5-day-per-week service to kidney patients, carers and healthcare professionals and Renal Units. The NKF Helpline is also the UK's largest provider of kidney-related medical information leaflets with a library of over 200 titles written by nephrologists in simple language for patients and carers.
Please support this sponsored step challenge so the National Kidney Federation can continue its vital work in supporting patients.
