Story
On the 19th of March, 2025, our world was turned upside down when we lost our beloved niece, Daisy, at just four years old. Daisy brought joy, sunshine, and a boundless spirit that touched everyone around her.
Just a few months prior, Daisy was diagnosed with mitochondrial disease — a rare disorder that disrupts how the body produces energy. This diagnosis was a shock to our family, and in an instant, everything changed.
Daisy’s journey came to an end while she was on holiday in Portugal, making her passing all the more sudden and heartbreaking. Despite the challenges she faced, Daisy’s courage and happiness shone brightly, leaving a lasting impression on all who knew her.
As her aunts, Jem and I are taking on the 25km Ultra Challenge in her memory, to celebrate her life and keep her legacy alive. Every step we take is for her — for the smiles she shared, the memories we hold dear, and the hope that others may be spared similar heartbreak.
Our fundraising is for The Lily Foundation, a charity committed to supporting families impacted by mitochondrial disease and advancing research into better diagnosis, treatment, and ultimately, a cure. Learning about Daisy’s condition has inspired us to raise awareness and contribute to the vital work that brings hope to other children and families facing this challenging illness.
