30 Miles for 30 Years of the Organ Donation Registry

30 Miles for 30 Years of Organ Donation - York to Leeds Ultra · 26 September 2024
This year marks eight years since my life was saved by a wonderful family making a heartbreaking decision. 2024 also marks 30 years of the NHS Organ donor registry.
I recently spoke with a member of the organ donation community who shared the fact that inspirational of our 'opt out' system in the UK organ donation decisions ultimately fall on the family members.
If we are not communicating our wishes and 'having the chat' lives could be lost
To mark the anniversary of receiving the gift of life I have decided to take on the challenge of running/walking my home in Raskelf, York to St James Hospital Leeds. Along the way I will be handing out hundreds of organ donation cards to start the conversation.
I will also be fundraising for Leeds Hospitals Charity & Leeds Adult Transplant Sport Team.
I want to thank you all for your ongoing support it every kind word, donation and hug gets us through the darkest times.
In loving memory of Mia, Leo, my liver transplant donor Sarah & her wonderful family.
Here's a few ways you can get involved:
- Join me for a leg of the course, I would love the company!
- Donate to my chosen charity. Funds will go towards ensuring all families can attend the The British Transplant Games
