Story
Thank you for visiting my Sweatember Challenge fundraising page for Sharewear Clothing Scheme.
Having hiked 140km in both September 2019 and September 2023 to raise funds for Sharewear's work, this year I'm tackling 150km on my exercise bike instead, to help me improve my fitness for further hiking challenges. Averaging 5k per day throughout September, as a complete novice cyclist and after a year of ill health, will be pretty gruelling. Any support you can give me will spur me on! Please take a minute to read why I've chosen to do this below. Thank you.
Whilst it's well known that 'free of charge' physical activity is good for our mental health and wellbeing, people unable to afford the cost of appropriate clothing miss out on exercise, simply because they don't have appropriate basic clothing to take part.
During the cost of living crisis, Sharewear is seeing a hugely increased number of people needing to access their services, and the most requested items are jogging bottoms, trainers, good shoes for walking & coats. Their service users can't take steps to improve their mental health without our support, but Sharewear can't meet the rising need without your help.
Sharewear will spend the funds raised on buying jogging bottoms at cost directly from a manufacturer when their supplies run low, as well as on the collection of trainers from all those outlets taking part in their #Trainers4Trainers appeal.
Thank you for your support.
Louise
