Story

Hi Everyone!

As we near the end of 2024, I wanted to take on one more challenge and finish the year on a high. Next Sunday, I’m running the Venice Marathon with my good friend Max, who I met while studying abroad in Milan. Together, we're raising funds for Cure CLCN4. Over the last two fundraisers, I’ve been blown away by your generosity, raising over £24,000 for CLCN4 research in just 13 months.

For those who don’t know, my youngest sister Daphne was born with a rare mutation to her CLCN4 gene. The condition impacts her neurological and physical development, but despite everything, Daphne's smile and resilience is constant reminder to appreciate everything in life.

All thanks to the incredible support we’ve received since August last year, we’ve been able to fund multiple projects that have significantly advanced research into CLCN4. But there’s still more to be done, and I’m more determined than ever to help Daphne and other kids with CLCN4 related conditions.

Since our first fundraiser in 2023, running has become a real passion of mine. It’s brought me new friendships, new challenges, and the opportunity to give back in a meaningful way. This marathon is just one more way I hope to make a difference to CLCN4 research.

Any donation would mean the world to us. Max and I will give it everything we’ve got out there on race day, and we’re honoured to support the incredible work of Cure CLCN4 team.

We are so grateful for your continued support! Thank you.

Cure CLCN4 Background:

Cure CLCN4 is a charity dedicated to advancing scientific and medical research on CLCN4-related condition, a rare genetic condition that causes epilepsy, intellectual disability, and behavioural and movement disorders, among other symptoms. Having a loved one with this condition can be life-changing. Yet, despite its impact, CLCN4-related condition remains under-researched and underfunded.

For Luca, this cause is deeply personal, as his younger sister, Daphne, lives with CLCN4. Inspired by Daphne’s resilience, Luca has been propelled to make a real difference—not just for her, but for everyone living with this rare genetic condition. By focusing all donations directly on research, Cure CLCN4 ensures that 100% of your contributions go towards scientific advancements.
