Story

I’m proud (scared, excited and privileged) to be running the London Marathon in April 2026 and raising important funds and awareness for Anaphylaxis UK. Anaphylaxis is a life threatening allergic reaction that needs immediate emergency treatment. This is my first ever marathon and will have to work extremely hard to get there, but it is a cause so close to my heart.

THE WHY - our son, Jack, has peanut, nuts and sesame anaphylaxis, and my husband, Graeme has food dependent exercise induced anaphylaxis. Both have had emergency life saving hospital care in the last few years. Due to the unpredictable nature of the condition, it's a constant learning curve and battle to navigate on a daily basis. Epi pens need to be with us at all times. We always need to be on alert, which can be very challenging. It's particularly scary being an allergy mum, and for our son who continually navigates his condition whilst growing up and gaining more independence in time. Awareness and education on the condition can help try and keep my family, and other families safe and save lives in future.

The charity strives for a brighter future for those people living with serious and life threatening allergies by providing trusted and scientifically-based resources and training to individuals and families, education settings, businesses, and healthcare professionals.

In the UK, 1-2% of adults and 5-8% of children have a food allergy; this equates to over 2 million people.

Thank you for supporting my London Marathon fundraising journey and the vital work of Anaphylaxis UK. I cannot thank you enough!!!
