Story
'The Macmillan Charity Raceday is the oldest and largest event of its kind in the country, raising over £10 million in its 52 year history for people living with cancer. Held every June, the highlight of the day is the Macmillan Ride of Their Lives race that sees 12 amateur jockeys ride down the famous Knavesmire course. Each year 25,000 spectators enjoy a day with us to cheer these brave riders on as they take on the challenge of their lifetime.'
I am riding in memory of my Dad who we lost to cancer in 2016. My dad loved ‘the horses’ and I hold fond memories of him in front of the TV on a Saturday afternoon watching the racing so I know that me competing in this race would have made him incredibly proud! Macmillan are a fantastic organisation that were incredibly supportive to my family and I when my Dad was unwell. This is my opportunity to say thank you to them, through fundraising.
...I have some weight to lose and lots of fitness to catch up on, as well as raising as much money as possible in the next 10 weeks ready for race day on 15th June 2024.
I have set myself a goal of £4000 so wish me luck and please support me and my fellow riders if you can!
A huge thank you to Tim, Sarah, William, Emily, Thomas and the whole team at Tim Easterby Racing for supporting me.
