Story
The dreaded 'c' word. It touches all of us in so many ways and for one in two of us, a diagnosis won't just be a threat, it'll one day become a reality.
My fantastic Dad beat bladder cancer 7 years ago, just before the birth of my son, and his first grandchild, Reggie. So, in honour of the ongoing support my Dad still receives today and in memory of all those who haven't been so lucky in their battle, Reggie and I are running the 2024 Robin Hood Mini Marathon to raise funds for the John van Geest Cancer Research Centre.
Based at Nottingham Trent University, the John van Geest Cancer Research Centre houses a team of world-class scientists who work closely with leading clinicians at local hospitals.
Their ground-breaking research focusses on the detection and treatment of cancer, specialising in blood cancers as well as colorectal, pancreatic and brain tumours.
With continued developments in preventative measures, faster diagnoses, tailored treatment and informed aftercare, the presence of cancer in our lives might remain inevitable — but the scale and devastation of its impact need not be.
Your generous donations to The John van Geest Cancer Research Centre, help us to continue this life-changing work.
