Story
In 2026, I will be running the Rome Marathon in memory of my beloved Auntie Colette, who tragically lost her life to alcoholism on 23/03/2022, just two days after I had returned home from a trip to Rome. While I was there, I shared what would become my last phone call with her - a moment I now hold in my heart with both gratitude and sorrow. That conversation, from a city so full of life and history, now feels like a final connection and a quiet goodbye I never knew I was having. That’s why the date and location of this marathon mean so much to me. Every mile I run through the streets of Rome will be for her.. for the love she gave, the struggles she carried, and the warmth she brought into my life. I’m running to honour her memory and to raise funds for Alcohol Change UK, a charity working to prevent others from experiencing the same devastating loss. This is more than a race, it’s a personal journey of grief, love, and hope for change.
