My dad passed away in October, 12 years after his diagnosis with prostate cancer. At the time of diagnosis, the cancer had already spread to his bones, so it was unfortunately clear that it wouldn't be curable. But he received great care and support from Guy's Cancer Centre, which meant that he was able to live a fulfilling life over those 12 years, spending time with his family, carrying on with work and enjoying some well-earned holidays.
I will be running the Brighton Marathon with my sister Iona and wife Emily to raise money for Guy's Cancer Charity. This will help others receive the amazing support which helped him to make the most of his 12 years of living with cancer.
Dad was a keen fundraiser for Guy's Cancer and we would like to continue that legacy.
Guy's Cancer Charity works alongside the NHS Cancer Centre, providing a range of services including additional personalised care to patients, enabling research, investing in new cutting-edge equipment and helping provide care at home.
100% of donations will be used to help Guy’s Cancer go further for the people who need it. That’s because the fundraising and administrative costs are covered by Guy’s & St Thomas’ Foundation, and the NHS covers the general overheads of the hospital.
