Story
I'm taking on the Pilgrim's Reckoning with Thunder Races on 12th September: 81 miles in 24 hours around Bedfordshire.
I'm doing this to support HopeWorks UK, which walks alongside people facing homelessness, displacement, isolation, poverty, and crisis. Through practical support and encouragement, HopeWorks helps people restore dignity, rebuild stability, and reimagine a hopeful future.
As someone who’s never even completed a half marathon, I can honestly say I’m well out of my depth here. I’ve recruited a friend to take on the challenge with me, because I’ve seen firsthand in my role as Pathways manager just how much of a difference a supportive community can make during tough times. This will undoubtedly be the biggest physical test of my life so far.
The challenge feels especially fitting in Bedford. Centuries ago, John Bunyan walked these paths while writing Pilgrim's Progress – a story of struggle, perseverance, and hope. Today, those same themes still echo through our streets as many people face difficult journeys of their own.
You're not doing this for me, but every £ raised will make sure you're doing it with me!
If you're able to sponsor me, thank you. Together, we can help ensure that no journey has to be walked alone.
