Story
Bedford is a town built on a story of journey.
Centuries ago, John Bunyan walked these paths while writing Pilgrim’s Progress - a story of struggle, perseverance, and hope.
Today, those same themes still echo through our streets.
Because across Bedford, people are walking difficult journeys of their own through homelessness, displacement, isolation, poverty, and crisis.
At HopeWorks UK, we walk alongside people as they rebuild stability and hope - one step at a time.
On the 12th September, we’re inviting you to step into that story.
Take on the Pilgrim's Reckoning with Thunder Races:
81 miles in 24 hours around Bedfordshire.
That works out at around 3.38 miles per hour - meaning this challenge is not just for runners. It can be walked too.
This is about ordinary people coming together, pushing themselves, and getting sponsored to make a real difference for people facing some of life’s toughest roads.
Through tired legs, dark hours, sunrise moments, and everything in between, every mile covered and every pound raised will help HopeWorks continue supporting people across Bedford and beyond.
Because no journey should be walked alone.
