ongoing fundraising for Ralphie’s TeamGOSH Fund · 14 June 2023

We are Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity. We stop at nothing to help give seriously ill children childhoods that are fuller, funner and longer. Because we believe no childhood should be lost to illness.

Story

We knew that Great Ormand Street Hospital was a special place, but over the past two years we have discovered, just how special it is. In July 2021, Huxley, our eldest son, at just two days old was transferred to GOSH. Sadly, his condition had deteriorated so much by the time he arrived that, in spite of their very best efforts, doctors were unable to save him, and he passed away peacefully in our arms. The whole team was wonderful, taking care of us and helping us to create memories of Huxley to last a lifetime. Never in our wildest dreams did we think we would be back……but we were.

Our second son, Ralphie was born in October 2022, fit and healthy. He appeared to be thriving but at two weeks old we noticed a lump on his head and tiny purple marks. The GP sent him to our local hospital where tests indicated a very high white blood count. Ralphie, like his brother, was then transferred to GOSH, where further tests discovered he had acute myeloid leukaemia – he was just three weeks old. Once again, our world had fallen apart, but under the care of Ralphie’s lead consultant, the team worked tirelessly to help him to recover, and Ralphie is currently in remission and at home.

We are eternally grateful to the wonderful team at GOSH and want to do all that we can to support the construction of the new cancer centre, with its state-of-the-art facilities. Their multi-disciplinary approach – doctors, nurses, dieticians, physiotherapists, play team, entertainers, therapy dogs etc. is second to none. Thank you for visiting our page and for supporting this very worthwhile cause that is so dear to our hearts.
