Trek26 Lake District · 1 June 2024

Dementia UK is the specialist dementia nurse charity. Our nurses, called Admiral Nurses – who we continually support and develop – provide life-changing care for families affected by all forms of dementia, including Alzheimer’s disease.

Story

Thank you to everyone who has donated so far. On Saturday 1st June, I did the Trek26 Lake District, definitely not one of my better ideas considering my lack of training, sadly through injury. But I wasn't going to let that stop me. Many said I wouldn't do the walk, and many said I shouldn't. But for those who know me, that only motivated me more.

The route was described in one word by the organisers....TOUGH and they were not lying in the slightest, very tough terrain and who knew going downhill would be much worse than going up. I massively underestimated how hard this would be, but everyone who knows me, knows how stubborn I am so thankfully we pushed through and completed the trek.

I finished the trek very broken, physically and mentally, it was an emotional roller coaster from start to end. It was the hardest thing I've ever done, but massively rewarding.

It isn't too late to donate so please help research into preventing this cruel disease and also to provide support for the families and carers

Lots of Love
