We're raising money to support refugees so they can thrive as they rebuild their lives.

We both work for Upbeat Communities - a charity empowering refugees in Derby.

We've both been inspired by the many incredible people we've met who are currently seeking safety in Derby. We've also been moved by the many barriers they face, from language to homelessness.

Upbeat does incredible work to connect people into community, teach free English classes, offer meals and temporary accommodation, and much more. Upbeat is doing its best to meet an increasing need - that's why we're raising money to help.

Both of us used to be avid runners but have been out of practise due to injury (Ben) and life (Maddie) - so this 5K will definitely be a challenge for us both! Not to mention the inflatable obstacles thrown in the mix...
