Upbeat Communities are raising money for our work welcoming refugees!

We support people rebuilding their lives in and around Derby, through English classes, social activities, support groups, cultural visits, community meals and much more - all to help people connect with others and thrive in their new home.

Refugees and asylum seekers face many barriers to rebuilding their lives in the UK. Many must overcome trauma experienced back home and on their journeys here, whilst overcoming barriers to integration in the UK: language, isolation, poverty and mental health issues are just a few examples.

We want to be part of the solution by creating a safe, welcoming space and signposting people to vital services, from GP practices to schools for their children. We believe that having a good social network is the best way for refugees to integrate in the UK.
