Story
Every day, some children in Zambia have to walk upwards of 10 kilometres to school, purely due to the lack of transport, trained teachers and schools in their area. I will be cycling 20 kilometres, 5 days a week, in order to experience and raise awareness of the daily toil these young Zambians go through, morning and night, often leaving them too tired to learn at the place they worked so hard to travel to.
By the time I depart for Zambia, on Tuesday, the 30th of June, I will have cycled 100 kilometres a week, amounting to 1400 kilometres overall. I will upload photos of my progress, so you can see how I'm getting along. Any donation, big or small, is much appreciated!
St Paul's partnership with Beyond Ourselves was launched in 2018 with a highly successful whole school fundraising walk. The community, staff and students walked, swam and rowed the distance between Barnes and Ndola in Zambia where the charity are based, raising over £35,000 in the process. Since then, St Paul's have run five successful trips to Zambia where students have been able to support the incredible work Beyond Ourselves does in the community and learn valuable lessons from the experience.
