This April 2026, Abu Zayn and I will be running the TCS London Marathon - one of the worlds most iconic races. From the buzz at Greenwich Park to the energy of Tower Bridge, and that unforgettable finish along The Mall, it's a challenge I've always dreamed of. One of us a novice runner in a mid life crisis the other who is driven by pushing himself to human endeavours. One aiming to simply complete the other aiming for a personal best.

Ribaat al-Muhammadiya: Building a Permanent Home for Our Community

Alḥamdulillāh, by the grace of Allah and the generosity of our community, Phase 1 of Ribaat al-Muhammadiya is complete. We have secured the site for what will become a lasting centre of faith, learning and servitude.

Today, we invite you to support Phase 2 - the essential refurbishment works that will allow this building to open its doors and begin serving the community.

Phase 2 focuses on the planned refurbishment for the estate, this is broken into various activities and indicative timescales

Immediate priority - 0-8 months

• Secure the building with CCTV monitoring

• Clean the site from debris and waste materials

• Make safe electrics , remove all wiring back to the fuse boards

• Disconnect gas supplies and cap off

• Remove redundant water towers

• Repair guttering to the roof

• Renovate block A 1st floor (have chosen not to call this office areas)

Short term 6- 24 months

• Focus on areas of critical refurbishment in order to provide space for teaching and community use

o Upgrading insulation to perimeter walls to minimise heat loss and maximise heat retention

o New heating system

o New wiring and LED lighting

o New AV system

o Provision of WC / Wudu block

o Replacement window to ground floor

o Decoration to ground floor

• Repair and make good external walls

o Sections of brickwork around the estate need minor repairs
