Story
"Everything happens for a reason..."
I’ve always used this motto to get me through life, especially when it comes to the negatives.
Throughout my life I have suffered with a lot of challenges, when I was 15 I lost my dad to bowel cancer, days after my 19th birthday I lost my mum to liver cancer, I've faced challenges working in the RAF, with failed IVF rounds and tragically lost friends to suicide over the years.
My fundraising challenge:
I’m not the fittest and I’m not the thinnest and an old ankle injury limits what I can do at times so I got thinking… Scrolling through Facebook over Christmas I saw a virtual walk for the coast of Wales come up, I thought “there’s an idea, I like walking, I can lose weight and I can do this in the gym until the winter passes”. At 1,392km though this was not enough of a challenge, so I thought some more… and I came up with the following idea:
My house to bigmoose Coffee Co = 8km - This is where it all began.
The Nurburgring = 25.378km - I would love to drive this, until I can I’ll walk the distance.
Mount Everest (from Base Camp) = 65km - I will never climb Mount Everest, but as Jeff Smith (Bigmoose CEO) did I’ve included this too.
The North Coast 500 = 806km - I lived in Scotland for 7 1/2 years, where I met, my amazing wife; I’d love to go back and drive the 500 but until then I will walk the distance.
The Pacific Coast Highway - 1,055km - I love the West Coast of the USA and have driven parts of this on many occasions, in fact whilst I write this I am flying to LA for 3 weeks work; so why not walk the distance of this amazing road.
And finally…..The Coast of Wales = 1,392km - we moved to Wales nearly 9 years ago and I class this place as home now, it’s a wonderful country so why not walk the coast. This totals 3,351km.
Bigmoose had a vision to raise £1,000,000, Jeff broke this down that he wanted to raise 100 x £10,000’s and while this target had not been reached in 2022 it goes on and I aim to be be adding to one of these 100’s. Jeff made me realise that even with the target of £10,000 any total raised will be an achievement, and go towards helping fund therapy to help the lives of many.
