Three-year-old Luai is among the thousands of children tragically impacted in Gaza. His story is heartbreaking. Luai and his family were targeted by an airstrike that left him with 3rd and 4th-degree burns. His injuries are severe, affecting his abdomen, perineum, and both legs, which are exposed to the bone in many areas. Luai’s doctor in Gaza was unsure he would make it due to the severity of his injuries. The airstrikes left him with not just debilitating physical injuries, but also tragically orphaned, which is perhaps the most devastating blow of all. Luai's mother had initially survived the strike, but after battling her own injuries, sadly passed away a few days ago.

But Luai was determined to fight for his life. Thankfully, we were able to temporarily evacuate Luai to Egypt for medical care. Because of the severity of his injuries, the initial hospital was not equipped to provide appropriate care, and he had to be transferred to another hospital in Egypt. This hospital is a specialized facility that can look after his complex needs. Luai has a long and difficult road ahead of him. He requires months of physical rehabilitation and multiple reconstructive surgeries to enable him to fulfill the most basic anatomical functions. Additionally, he will need lasting emotional support to heal from his trauma. Your donation will ensure Inara can provide Luai with the lasting support he needs to survive and thrive.
