Story
I am doing the London Marathon on 26th April 2026 in memory of our beautiful baby Georgie who was born sleeping at 17 weeks on the 26th April 2025. The date will be poignant as it will be exactly one year.
Like 20,000 other parents every year in the UK, we had a bad screening result. It resulted in the worst decision a parent could ever make, and one that affects both Jenny and I deeply every day since.
Antenatal Results & Choices helped support us and others through the difficult process and there are many others from the midwives and other charities who supported us also. This side of the coin is mercifully not seen by many, but having experienced both this latest loss but also 3 consecutive 1st trimester miscarriages in 2017, 2018 and 2019, the support and love that is shown is something that I will always appreciate.
ARC's services (www.arc-uk.org) are for everyone throughout pregnancy and beyond. Over 20,000 expectant parents a year in the UK are told that their baby may have a genetic or structural condition. This causes a great deal of anxiety and uncertainty for expectant parents and their families.
ARC's helpline and resources provide parents with non-directive information and support before, during and after antenatal screening. They also provide training and support to help healthcare professionals provide the best possible care to every patient facing a suspected or diagnosed fetal anomaly.
Please considering donating towards my challenge to run the TCS London Marathon 2026 on 26th April 2026 for ARC. They are a small charity, receiving no statutory or NHS funding, so all donations make such a difference. Just £5 pays for their helpline to support one parent, for example.
Thank you!
