Story
I'm sleeping out for the last time to raise funds for the Booth Centre!
I did my first sleep out back in 2019 and got lucky, just had a cold night. I did my 2nd the following year during Covid in my garden, the neighbours thought there had been a huge bust up, again I kept dry.
The weather has got progressively worse since, I had snow in 2024 and last year I was out in Storm Claudia.
I’ve been wet, I’ve been freezing and I’m stiff for days afterwards but it’s all been worth it.
So far I’ve raised £5537 with your help and that’s before gift aid is added on.
I said that last year was my last but after hearing this is the final one I’ve decided to dig out my thermals one more time.
I’ve been involved with the Booth Centre for years now and I’m still amazed at all the work they do to help those who are homeless or vulnerable across Manchester.
As hard as the Sleep Outs can be I’m thankful that I’m only having to do it one night a year. Most of us are very lucky and will never know what it’s like to have to sleep rough.
If you could support me one last time I would be very grateful and it would make such a difference. You might be disappointed that I’m not doing it in winter this time but there is every chance it might still be pouring down, so don’t be disheartened yet haha.
I will miss getting soaked and struggling to get off the ground due to arthritis but I would do it all over again in a heartbeat. I will always be involved with the Booth Centre. Once you have seen for yourself everything they do it’s impossible not to be.
The Booth Centre is a community built in partnership with people who are impacted by homelessness, poverty, and the immigration system in Greater Manchester. They've been hosting sleepouts at the Cathedral for 15 years, and this will be the Last Sleepout At The Cathedral.
