Story

I will be training for and running the London Marathon 2025 for a brilliant charity - Ataxia UK. My sister Kate who has a ballot place will also be training with me and running the event. My late Aunt Julie had ataxia, she was diagnosed late in her 30s and unfortunately went on to have an ever-declining quality of life that we all as a family had to witness for the next two decades, until she eventually lost out to the condition and passed away in November 2021.

It saddens me knowing that there is no current cure to any of the various types of ataxia and that many will have to continue to suffer until a cure is found. This is what ultimately drives me to want to run for Ataxia UK – to do my bit to raise funds to improve therapies, support care workers as best as possible and to ultimately find a cure for the illness.

If you can then please consider supporting this vital cause and mine, and my sisters, Marathon training, through making a donation on this page. Any donations, large or small, would be very much appreciated. Thank you.

10,500 people in the UK have ataxia which is a progressive neurological condition that disrupts the messages sent from our brains to our muscles that are used to move, speak, listen and see. Ataxia UK funds research into finding treatments and a cure and provide support until they are found.
