We are 18 middle-aged men in search of a purpose and thankfully, we’ve found one worth every early morning, aching muscle, and mile ahead of us. What binds us are early gym sessions, a shared love of rugby and cycling, and the feeling that it’s time to do something that genuinely matters.
Over the weekend of 8th–10th May, we’ll be taking on a 250 mile cycling challenge from Milton Keynes to Gloucester, Bristol, and back to Milton Keynes, built around two Premiership Rugby fixtures:
• Milton Keynes → Gloucester (100 miles) to watch Gloucester v Sale Sharks on Friday 8th May
• Gloucester → Bristol (40 miles) to watch Bristol Bears v Saracens on Saturday at 17:30
• Bristol → Milton Keynes (the long final push home) on Sunday
Three days. Three cities. A lot of sore legs. Even more questionable decisions. But all for a reason that matters deeply to us.
We are raising money for Motor Neurone Disease (MND), a devastating, incurable illness that has impacted so many lives, including within the rugby community.
We’ve been inspired by the courage of those who have faced it head-on — Doddie Weir, Rob Burrow, Ed Slater, Joost van der Westhuizen, and Lewis Moody among them. Their resilience has moved us not just as rugby fans, but as people.
This ride is also personal. Some of us have seen MND up close within our own families. We know the helplessness it brings and that’s why we’re determined to turn that into action.
We’re also carrying their fight with us, symbolised in our shirts:
No.7 for Lewis Moody
No.7 for Rob Burrow
No.4 for Ed Slater
No.5 for Doddie Weir
Each one representing resilience, determination, and the ongoing fight against MND.
This is about more than distance. It’s about standing together for everyone affected by this disease, patients, families, club players, non-players, and everyone in between.
We’re raising funds to support MND charities working on research, care, and support for those living with this condition. Every donation goes directly toward making a difference.
Proud to be one of the 18 taking on this challenge in the fight against MND.
So please, if you can, support or share. It all helps.
Every mile counts. Every donation counts even more.
