Lucy & Mark plan to climb the Welsh Three Peaks!
______ & WE DID IT! ______
On the 9th August we started out at 07.00 and despite the weather turning into a gentle gale... we came down the last peak at 9.15pm. Sunrise to Sunset and according to three separate Strava's, our estimates of height and distance were about right.
As big as day as any we had in Nepal, but very worth it and a massive thank you to Mrs Sainsbury, our driver and caterer for the day and....to EVERYONE who has already contributed on this page.
For the very latest on what STCML will do with the funds, please check out the charity's news pages.
Thank you once again,
Mark & Lucy.
Please support us as we take on the Welsh Three Peaks challenge, scaling Snowdon, Cadair Idris and Pen Y Fan all in one day, in order to support vulnerable children in Nepal.
The Challenge: Three mountains. Approx 30km (18 miles) and an ascent of 2300 metres (7550ft), in 12 hours of daylight. On foot, whatever the weather…..
The Charity:- We have just returned from trekking in the Makalu region of Nepal, and experiencing the lives and hospitality of the Nepalese people, as introduced to us by our Guide Binay Lama, and have been looking for a way to support the communities we met.
“So the Child May Live” is a fantastic small charity, set up to actively promote the health of children and young people by supporting initiatives which can alleviate sickness and suffering across Nepal. Their latest project is to supply an ultrasound machine to the Bhimkori village health centre.
There is of course no NHS service in Nepal, so we believe with such a small direct charity, we can make a big difference to the safety and future of children in such a remote part of the world.
