Story
Demelza is an incredible local charity - it only continues to operate thanks to people like me doing crazy things to raise funds for them as they get no funding from the Government and rely solely on charitable donations. This is why I'm doing it...
My good friend Rob's amazing niece Niamh was diagnosed with a life-limiting condition called SMA Type 1. Thanks to the ongoing support from Demelza, Niamh and her family are able to recieve expert clinical care and emotional support, giving them the chance to live life with strength, joy and togetherness.
Niamh is thriving because of the ongoing support that Demelza provides, not just to her, but to her Mum, Gemma and her sister Harper. Sometimes it's the little things - like a simple visit from the care team - that allow Gemma time to handle day-to-day tasks or just to be able to take a breath. This time is essential, it helps her recharge and be able to meet the enourmous demands of caring for a child with SMA, and Harper too.
This challenge will push me and Rob both physically and mentally to reach base camp, and trek back down again.
Every donation - no matter how small - makes a real difference.
Demelza can only continue their vital work, bringing comfort, care, and moments of normality to families dealing with difficult circumstances.
Your support means to the world to me, but it means more than you know to Niamh, Gemma, Harper and the Demelza team.
Thank you so much!
