Eau d'Cologne · 3 May 2025
Building on our previous years' cycle events, 2025 sees us riding from Leeds to Cologne. Starting at Freightliner's base in Leeds, we will head to Hull for the ferry to Rotterdam. The next two days then sees us cross the Netherlands and into Germany for a finish at Cologne Cathedral.
That's three days on the bike, covering nearly 250 miles / 400km across 3 countries.
Freightliner are very generously supporting us with sponsorship for vehicles and event jerseys. Participants we are all directly covering transport, accommodation, and food, meaning that all donations go directly to the charities.
Last year, we collectively raised over £70,000 for various charities, primarily Birmingham Children's Hospital Charity.
There are lots of rail connections on this trip: starting at Freightliner's Leeds Midland Road base, we will visit Rotterdam's Freightliner Rail Feeding on day 2, and pass through the Wildrenrath test track on day 3.
Riders this year are me, Darren Ward (still no relation though we both answer to the other's name), Paul Williams, Steve Fisher, Michael Stokes, Chris Reid, Chris Rothwell, Nick Westcott, Ange Steward, Sam Rayment, Sam Alexander, Gary Mullins Downes, Adrian Champion, Hedley Phillips, Dave Meredith, Sarah Young. Tam Giez, Anthony Miles, Marion Rayment and Guy Santos will be our awesome support team.
At Birmingham Children’s Hospital Charity, we believe there’s always more we can do for our sick kids and that’s why we will always strive to do more for our patients and families. It’s our mission to raise the vital funds needed to make a real difference to all who use our hospital.
Your support empowers us to take innovative approaches to treating some of the sickest children in the UK. Your fundraising enables us to make our hospital feel just like home. Your donations are helping us to find new ways to treat and cure childhood diseases.
