Sri Lanka Cycle Challenge 2026

Since 2015, UK executives from the Wholesale, Foodservice and Convenience sector have raised an extraordinary £1.5 million for MAG's life-saving work around the world. Please support the team as they take on their 11th cycling challenge in Sri Lanka.

Story

Between 21st and 29th March I will be taking part in the Bikes Against Bombs Sri Lanka Cycle Challenge – an ambitious 406km ride that will take me through Sri Lanka’s sleepy villages, lush rice fields, dense forests and nature reserves. Over five days, I will be part of a team that will cycle on a mixture of terrains, including rugged dirt trails, rural roads and the heat of Sri Lanka. Together, we aim to raise vital funds for Mines Advisory Group (MAG), a life-changing organization dedicated to making the world safer by clearing landmines and unexploded bombs.

Why MAG’s Mission Matters.

Every day, 17 people are killed or injured by landmines or unexploded bombs. Tragically, half of these victims are children. Families in conflict-affected regions live in constant fear, unable to farm, attend school, or play safely.

MAG works tirelessly to find, remove, and destroy these deadly items. They also provide education to help communities navigate these dangers until their land is cleared. By supporting MAG, we can save lives and give people back the freedom to live without fear.

Your donation could make a tangible difference: Did you know that £60 could help clear 40 square meters of land, making it safe for children to play or families to grow crops.

Sri Lanka Cycle Challenge.

The ride will be a real challenge and see me tackling some steep hills and rough terrain in the hot tropical sun. This will be my fourth time participating in this incredible challenge to support the Mines Advisory Group (MAG).

Having previously cycled through Thailand-Laos in 2023, Vietnam in 2024 and Tanzania last year I have witnessed firsthand the incredible impact of MAG’s work. This year, I am as determined as ever to make a difference and I would love your support.

The challenge will see us cycle from Sri Lanka’s western coast in Negombo deep through the heart of the island before finishing in Passikudah, a beautiful coastal town in the east. We will cycle approximately 406km through Sri Lanka’s sleepy villages, lush rice fields, dense forests, nature reserves and see the Sigiriya Rock Fortress – a UNESCO World Heritage site!

The ride will be a real challenge and see us tackling some steep hills and rough terrain in the hot tropical sun. But every pedal stroke will be worth it knowing we’re helping MAG save lives.

During the Vietnam challenge in 2024 I had the unforgettable experience of visiting a MAG clearance site, where I witnessed first-hand the incredible work they do. Seeing a live bomb safely destroyed was a stark reminder of the stakes involved and the impact of our support.

Please join me in supporting MAG by donating to my JustGiving page. Your generosity can help save lives, rebuild futures, and make the world a safer place for everyone.

Every contribution, no matter the size, brings us closer to a world where no one has to live in fear of landmines or unexploded bombs.

Thank you so much for your support!
