26 Mountains 2 Mayo Fundraiser

Marty McMullan is raising money for Cancer Fund for Children
From 7th-15th June 2025, a team of business leaders will tackle the “26 Mountains 2 Mayo” challenge in aid of Cancer Fund for Children to raise vital funds and awareness for children and young people impacted by cancer across the island of Ireland.

Story

On June the 7th this year myself and a team of other business leaders shall be taking on the epic challenge of climbing the highest peaks across Ireland with the aim to raise £1m for Cancer Fund for Children.

The ‘County Highpoint Challenge’ involves, as the name suggests, visiting the highest point in each county. The heights vary widely and wildly; from climbing Ireland’s highest peaks to wandering around on boggy hills in search of small cairns.

The aim is to complete the Challenge over 9 days, starting in Donegal on 7th June 2025 and finishing in Mayo on 15th June 2025. During the challenge the team will climb nearly 11,000m, which is 1.25 times the height of Mount Everest from sea-level.

About Cancer Fund for Children

Cancer Fund for Children is a charity serving families in all 32 counties across the island of Ireland who are impacted by a childhood cancer diagnosis.

Their mission is to support young people and their families emotionally and practically from the point of diagnosis, throughout treatment, and beyond, including times of bereavement.

Cancer Fund for Children empower, connect and strengthen children, young people and their families so they feel better equipped to cope with the emotional impact of cancer.

Their services include individual support, group support, and residential programs, often hosted at their Daisy Lodge facility in County Down and soon to be Daisy Lodge in Cong, Co. Mayo., which also provides therapeutic short breaks to help families reconnect and focus on spending time together.

Why This Matters to Me

As a family man I feel privileged everyday that up until now my own children and my nieces and nephews have not been affected by cancer, however I am aware of other families who are not as fortunate and the impact that it has had on them as a family.

By being part of this challenge, I have the opportunity to reach out to my network of friends, colleagues, and business partners to raise awareness and funds for this great charity, because we never know when any of us or somebody close needs to use it.
