Hi everyone,

We’re Lola and Mary, and we’ve signed up to run the Hackney Half 2026 for War Child, our first ever half marathon (slightly terrifying, but here we are).

We're running this half marathon for War Child, a charity we both really care about and that I've been lucky enough to be working for since over two years now.

War Child is a specialist charity that supports children affected by conflict around the world, not just in immediate crisis, but long after. Through this War Child can help children to feel safe again, get back to their education and to start processing everything they've been through.

War Child works across Africa, Asia, the Middle East, Europe and Latin America to reach the children growing up in situations they should never have to face. War Child is able to protect, educate and stand up for the rights of children living through conflict to ensure a safer future for every child living through war.

We know 13.1 miles is going to be a huge challenge for us (especially as we're not exactly experienced runners) but we couldn't think of a cause more worth it than this!

If you're able to donate, no matter how big or small, we'd be so grateful. The funds raised will go towards supporting children affected by conflict to give them a better chance at a safer, brighter future.
