Hi everyone,

We’re Lola and Mary, and we’ve signed up to run the Hackney Half 2026 for War Child, our first ever half marathon (slightly terrifying, but here we are).

We’re running this half marathon for War Child, a charity we both really care about, and one I (Lola) have been lucky enough to work for over the past two years.

War Child is a specialist charity supporting children affected by conflict, not only in moments of immediate crisis, but for as long as they need it. Their work helps children feel safe again, return to education, and begin to process the trauma they’ve experienced.

Working across Africa, Asia, the Middle East, Europe and Latin America, War Child reaches children facing unimaginable circumstances. They protect, educate, and stand up for the rights of children living through conflict, always putting children at the centre of everything they do.

War Child is able to go to some of the hardest to reach places to provide emergency assistance when conflict breaks out, and remain there to help children and families recover and rebuild their lives.

Because no child should be a part of war. Ever.

We know 13.1 miles is going to be a huge challenge for us (especially as we're not exactly experienced runners) but we couldn't think of a cause more worth it than this!
