We are delighted to be a Bronze Charity Partner for the Robin Hood Half Marathon 2024. Fundraise for us and support the ground-breaking work of Nottingham Trent University’s John van Geest Cancer Research Centre.

Story

We at the Nottingham Institute of Education have lost a number of colleagues in recent years to cancer of one form or another. And many if not all of us reading this will have family, friends and colleagues who have faced down the challenge of a cancer diagnosis and the treatment that follows. Survival rates have improved considerably as the result of medical research, but we urgently need these improvements to continue.

Based at Nottingham Trent University, the John van Geest Cancer Research Centre houses a team of world-class scientists who work closely with leading clinicians at local hospitals.

Their ground-breaking research focusses on the detection and treatment of cancer, specialising in blood cancers as well as colorectal, pancreatic and brain tumours.

With continued developments in preventative measures, faster diagnoses, tailored treatment and informed aftercare, the presence of cancer in our lives might remain inevitable — but the scale and devastation of its impact need not be.

Your generous donations to The John van Geest Cancer Research Centre help to continue this life-changing work.
