My name is Matt Willcocks and I work as a Consultant in Anaesthetics and Intensive Care at the Queen Victoria Hospital, East Grinstead. It's an amazing hospital undertaking complex operations and reconstructive surgeries for a plethora of injuries, illnesses and for Cancer sufferers. I am privileged to work alongside others striving to provide optimal care for our patients, who in many cases are literally rebuilding their lives both physically and mentally. But the NHS is a service under increasing pressure - facing rising demand, stretched resources and I am asking for your help.

Last year, I rode from the East to West coast of Italy in a day from sunrise to sunset. Not an easy feat, but made easier by many well-wishers who were kind enough to donate their encouragement and money in support of QVH Hospital Charity. This year I'm Chasing the Sun again....in the North of England. I aim to ride from Whitley Bay in Northumberland to Ayr beach in Scotland, leaving at sunrise in the East on June 20th, and hoping to beat the sunset to the West coast on the same day. A distance of just over 200 miles, with a total ascent of a third of Everest!
