Story

I “kidney” you not… I’m running the London Marathon 2026 for Kidney Care UK – for my amazing stepdad. Pops 🖤

On the 11th January 2023 Pops retired on his birthday. After years of hard work, he could finally enjoy the luxury of not working anymore. But within just 24 hours, everything changed.

After a few appointments and scans over the Christmas period, we received the devastating news that he had Kidney Cancer.

I didn’t want to believe it. My heart broke — emotionally, mentally, physically. I couldn’t fix what was happening or make it better. I pulled away from people and found it hard to visit him in hospital because I genuinely thought he was going to die.

On Good Friday, I finally went to see him — and that day, I was lucky enough to bring him home. 💛

After countless hospital trips, scans, pain, rest and recovery… he beat Cancer. Pops shared the news that he had the all clear around my birthday — the best gift I could ever have asked for.

Pops came into my life when I was 7 years old. He chose to love me as one of his own and has been an amazing father figure. He’s supported everything I’ve done — and now it’s my turn to do something for him.

So on Sunday 26th April 2026, I’ll be running the London Marathon in support of Kidney Care UK a charity that provides vital support to patients and families affected by kidney disease.

My fundraising goal is £2500.00 and every single donation — big or small — will help make a real difference to people going through the toughest times.

Thank you so much for your generosity and support.
This one’s for you, Pops. 🫶🏽
